The chapel of St Naunter in the town (the earliest licence of which that we have was in 1370), in which divine service was performed on Sunday afternoons by the vicar of Creed until 1815, when it had fallen into ruins; it was rebuilt and opened again in 1869.
The parish of Creed-with-Grampound comprises 2661 acres of land and 5 acres of water.

Grampound is in the parishes of Creed and Probus, in the hundred of Powder, 248 miles from London, by Tavistock, Liskeard, and St. Austell.
Grampound sent members to parliament from the reign of Edward VI until 1821, when it was disfranchised for bribery.
Grampound has been supposed, but with little reason, to have been a Roman station.

Grampound (Ponsmure, Graundpont, Grauntpount, Graundnad) and the hundred, manor and vill of Tibeste were formerly ~closely associated that in 1400 the former is found styled the II of Gmauntpond called Tibeste.
At the time of the Domesday irvey Tibeste was amongst the most valuable of the thanors anted to the count of Mortain.

The community flourished and by 1332 Grampound was given its charter by Earl John of Eltham which gave the townspeople the right to 'hang convicted thieves' and to exemption from taxes and tolls on the repair and building of other bridges.
It is now the home of Grampound Road Cricket Club, which for many years has had one of the most famous and successful village teams in the South West.
Grampound Road is in Ladock parish but until recently was split between Probus and Ladock.

 The John Hampden Society
erhaps the Society's most successful activity to date was on 1st and 2nd September 2001, when two commemorative plaques were unveiled in Grampound, Cornwall, to mark John Hampden's first entry into Parliament as the ancient borough's MP in 1621.
n Saturday 1st September the Society, in association with Grampound with Creed Parish Council, hosted a reception in the school, at which the guest of honour was Lady Mary Holborow, Lord Lieutenent of Cornwall.
This was followed by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by the Society's Patron, the Earl of Buckinghamshire, on the house where John Hampden is said to have stayed in 1621.

Jojo Davey (Cornish Dance Competitions 2002) Cecil Sharp collected information about the Grampound Furry during his visit to Cornwall but was unable to stay for the actual dance.
A dance based on the movements in the Grampound Furry, as well as the St Day Furry and Can Tol Dance, was created and choreographed by Jojo Davey for the Cornish Dance Competitions in 2002, winning first place having been performed by Tan ha Dowr, a Cornish youth dance and music group.
The dance was named the 10 Bar Furry due to it’s unusual 10, rather and 4 or 8 bar, '1 2 3 Hop' introduction.

The origins of Roger Teague are unknown, but for many years he kept the Plough Inn at Teague's Gate on the Grampound/Creed border.
A visitor to the Inn (Thomas Tonkin, who described the Plough as "The best inn in Grampound") in 1717 wrote:
When Roger died in 1719, he was 'a man of considerable means' and left £10 to the poor of Grampound giving ten shillings every year in bread for the poor on Easter Eve; twenty shillings to the poor of Mevagissey as well as monies to his wife, sons and grandchildren.
