		On GRAN TURISMO, the Cardigans follow this dark muse--which already beckoned them to cover Black Sabbath twice in two records--further incorporating a deeply affected melancholia into their Euro-pop ways.
		Sadly the rest of the album doesn't qite live up to that expectation but is very good none-the-less.
		As any classic album requires you need to listen to the album all the way through in the right order to truly appreciate the form and story of the album.

		Gran Turismo has maintained its place as one of my favorite albums since its release.
		The style of music on this particular album is very Cardigans, but distinct from their others in its beautiful, haunting ambience.
		If you're curious about Gran Turismo, check out the songs "Starter," "Erase/Rewind," and "My Favourite Game." Those are probably the more upbeat songs, but though the more low-key songs don't stand out as much, together they are what provides the powerful, echoing backbone of the album.

		The lyrics to Gran Turismo are often bitter and terribly despondent, yet at the same time they force the listener (i.e., me, you, and anyone who has ever regretted anything they've ever done) to acknowledge so much about human behaviour and interaction that we'd all rather dismiss.
		It's hard to listen to from a lyrical standpoint, it really is, but in a certain light it's also very comforting to know that I'm not the only one with this kind of crap to deal with; even hot Swedes with multiple chart-topping records under their belts contend with bollocks in their social lives.

		Yes, they placed their metallic guitars out-front while their colleagues hid behind layers of sequencers, making for a more "alternative" approach to "pop." More defining, though, was the sinister cloud that always hung around their songs, no matter how sunny the delivery and the setting.
		This album reaches toward the darker side of pop: subterranean groove, distorted loops and songs about alienation and disillusionment.
		This album was in my CD player for 2 months to be taken out for 2 weeks for the stereophonics (another good album) and now returns to its old haunt reguarly.

		You may be wondering why I gave "Gran Turismo 2: Music at the Speed of Sound" such a low score.
		For some reason, the makers of this soundtrack felt the need to add the sound of cars from Gran Turismo 2 into the first two songs on the CD, which are by Apollo Four Forty and The Cardigans.
		On the first track, instead of hearing the song come up straight away, you hear the lame digital sound of cars revving up at the starting line and the countdown timer beeping away, and this is all recorded straight from GT2.
