Most programmes on UKTV's channels are repeat broadcasts of BBC productions (although the entertainment channels also feature programmes made by other companies) and the channels themselves are operated by Red Bee Media (formerly BBC Broadcast, recently bought by Creative Broadcast Services from the BBC) and played out from BBC Television Centre in London.
None of the UKTV channels operates in widescreen — programmes made in widescreen are always horizontally cropped into 14:9 — and factual programmes are almost always cut for commercial timing although dramas and comedies are not.

SKY Television confirmed today that from 1 January 2002, Granada UKTV will no longer be part of the SKY Digital channel line-up.
Granada UKTV, which relies only on Granada as its programme supplier, has been available on the SKY Digital satellite platform since January 1999.
Travis Dunbar, SKY Director of Entertainment said, “Our research clearly demonstrated that UKTV is one of our least watched channels and our subscribers frequently commented that there was no BBC product and far too many repeats”.
