The Sports Gaming Network - Racing: Grand Prix Legends (PC) Review
GPL will take a fast system to run, and an even faster one to bring out all the detail that is available.
GPL is pretty enough in software-only mode, but I don't believe there is a machine around with the processing power to make it a viable option.
GPL was drivable at these rates, but a faster system should be capable of 30+ FPS at all times.

Grand Prix Legends for PC Review - PC Grand Prix Legends Review
Grand Prix Legends is a nearly perfect re-creation of the 1967 Grand Prix season, with Watkins Glen, Monza, Spa-Francorchamps, Rouen-les-Essarts, Mosport, Silverstone, Kyalami, Zandvoort, Mexico City, Monte Carlo, and the mighty Nurburgring modeled in the sim; only Le Mans is missing, and only two teams (Cooper and Honda) are missing from that year.
Grand Prix Legends isn't for everyone, but that little adage is true of many of the finer things in life.
While it may not be everything that Grand Prix II players hoped for, it's still a reason for F1 fans to rejoice.

Welcome to Grand Prix Legends, a game where you are placed at the wheel of a surly race car back in the late sixties.
With that in mind Papyrus shipped Grand Prix Legends with a one hundred page hint book called "Four Wheel Drift." This hint book takes the prospective player on a step-by-step journey into the world of Grand Prix auto racing as it was in 1967.

Grand Prix Legends was released back in 1998 by Papyrus Software and quickly became established as the number one racing simulation thanks to the superb physics.
Thanks to patches and the thousands of home-grown modifications, Grand Prix Legends is still enjoyed today, and with the recent introduction of a 1965 modification, looks like it's going to continue to thrive.
Enhancements such as Direct3D and OpenGL support, as well as support for the modern processors means that Grand Prix Legends plays and looks every bit as good as it did when game first pushed the envelope back in 1998.

What makes GPL even more entrancing is the wonderful graphical flourishes--the bystanders, the animated officials, accurate mirrors (mind blowing the first time you see them) and drivers shifting down and turning the wheel as they enter turns.
The game in that respect emulates the 1967 Grand Prix season perfectly, where 40% of the men that lined up at the start of the '67 would die behind the wheel of a race car.
Grand Prix racing is fast and dangerous, and you're in the driving seat - choose to drive Eagle, Lotus, Ferrari on some of the best track ever, including the original Spa and Nurburgring.

Grand Prix Legends article by Al Giovetti
Grand Prix Racers are 1100 pound cars with over 500 horsepower that achieve speeds of over 200 miles per hour.
The new physics engine models the movement of the body of the car differently from the four wheels with the suspension elements connecting them, which is more like how a real car moves.
The Grand Prix cars have no fenders and the bodies are very small so these are the cars to showcase this new technology.

 Grand Prix Legends
Grand Prix Legends, better known as GPL, is a legendary car simulator that is known to be very accurate.
GPL has essentially two types of forces - dynamic forces that get updated with the ongoing vehicle physics, and a damper that gives a certain amount of resistance to the wheel.
Finally, increasing "force_feedback_damping" in the GPL b helps to damp out the "jerks" that you sometimes get with the wheel, but at the expense of numbing some of the feeling.

The arcade mindset will only frustrate the new GPL driver, but with time the amount of satisfaction you get will be well beyond anything you'll get without four real wheels.

My own early start with GPL was in software mode which gave me framerates that were never higher than 20-22 fps and that was just not good enough.
GPL came out of the box in version 1.0.0.0 without force feedback and with default setups that were a bit tricky to master.
Today, we're at GPL version 1.2.0.2, excellent force feedback has been added by the developers and better setups were added by Papyrus in one of the very early patches.
