Grand Theft Auto 3 (GTA3) works well on so many levels that it is hard to imagine what could have been done to improve it.
All of these problems are eliminated in Rockstar’s PC port of GTA3, and players are left with a stunning, involving experience that, though not for everyone, will appeal to both the gamer looking for a long, structured action/adventure game and the one looking for loosely organized chaos.
GTA3 is a wide-open game with minimal linear progression but the guide does a good job presenting the information in very readable (and understandable) clumps.

Some of the things that stand out in the first few minutes of GTA3 are: the unique visual style, plenty of cars to drive, tons of sounds and music, extreme violence, and an open-ended gameplay style that is unprecedented.
Grand Theft Auto 3 was ported to the PC in a fairly short amount of time (released roughly 9 months or so after the PS2 version), and the engine does a fairly good job of keeping the action going.
GTA3 has a full night and day system on top of a weather system, which do pretty nicely in generating atmosphere.

The way that GTA3 combines the seeming open-ended nature of the in-game world with a scripted story is one of the things that make it so good.
Given that GTA3 is primarily a PS2 title, the conversion to the PC was generally well-done.

Grand Theftendo is simply a spare time, fan project for fun, to pay tribute to Rockstar Games and Grand Theft Auto.
Grand Theftendo takes place in a city based off of GTA3's Portland, the first of the three cities in Liberty City.
However, I didn't feel GTA3 could be pulled off as well with the flat 2D perspective as was done on them, since it was initially a third person 3D game and not simply a top down 3D one.

The initial concept for gameplay is to complete a series of missions in succesion which eventually propells you to becoming the city's most violent and notorious gangster.
There are 3 islands - the docks and industrial area is where you start, when you have completed so many missions the bridge opens and you progress to the island which is the business district.
GTA3 is excellent because of its mission structure, working for the Mafia and the Yakuza.

This is a typical scene in GTA 3 where you'll play the starring role of an unstoppable badass wreaking havoc and making a name for himself in the fictional Liberty City.
When you finish a few missions with one person, they usually introduce you to another contact, yet even through random missions a central focus is at the heart of it all - as you attack and betray people around town you gain enemies and allies and the story progresses.
I was pleasantly surprised by Grand Theft Auto 3.
