PRIMUS Sailing the Seas of Cheese reviews and MP3
Seas of Cheese and Grandad's Little Ditty are not exactly song, but more of filler and are nice additions to the album.
It's hard to call "Grandad's Little Ditty" a true song, but it does keep the listener involved and is short enough to not get annoying.
Seas of Cheese flows really nicely all throughout with a good mix of full length songs and short, silly songs, giving the album a edge that most music is missing.

Clive Dunn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After the series ended, he capitalised on the role by playing a similar character, "Grandad", in a children's TV series, and even had a number one hit with the song, "Grandad", accompanied by a children's choir.
Dunn was actually one of the younger members of the cast, at 48, when he took on the role of the elderly butcher whose military service in earlier wars made him the most experienced member of the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard, as well as the most decrepit.
Clive Dunn (born January 9, 1920) is a British actor, best known for his role as Lance-Corporal Jones in the BBC sitcom, "Dad's Army".

 Sky - The Band
Not many people know that the largest (and thankfully long-forgotten) hit for which Herbie was responsible was the novelty song "Grandad" which he wrote and produced.
Herbie told his first fib, saying that he'd played tuba in the school band.
After square bashing (learning to be a good soldier) and several months of egg frying he pleaded with the careers officer to help, who showed him a list of alternative trades available and at the bottom was 'bandsman' with the figure NINE in brackets after it.

Dad's Army Memorabillia - Singles - Grandad / I Play The Spoons by Clive Dunn
Herbie gave me the tape which sat in my machine for weeks before he called to say he was about to play the song to Clive, did I have the lyrics So I quickly sat down..."
CO-written by legendary bassist Herbie Flowers and Ken Pickett from 60's band the Creation, Record Collector magazine took up the story of how the single came about.
a few days later, with Herbie playing bass and then euphonium, we put the track down; the children and I then sang our bit and we all listened in the control box.

 The Mytholmroyd Net: guestbook
Hi, My name is Peter Mitchell, I was born in HB and lived there and Cragg Vale for 34 years before moving here to North Devon, just recently I attended a folk singing session, one of the song was about an accident in Mytholmroyd with a muck spreader.
My gran and grandad are buried in the St. John in the Wilderness Church in Cragg and I would dearly love to hear from anyone who knew of my grandparents or has any recollections of times in the Robin Hood.
I was born at Lower Cragg Farm, Cragg Vale.

 TrouserPress.com :: Denim
None the worse for wear, Denim fixes sharply on a new set of targets-"The Great Pub Rock Revival," punk history ("Jane Suck Died in 77"), city planners ("Council Houses"), offering surprisingly rough and blunt views of sex and abortion ("Brumburger," "Grandad's False Teeth") and debauchery ("Glue and Smack").
"Best Song in the World" draws uncomfortably near Poohville, but Lawrence's distinctively inquisitive voice and the project's exquisite musicianship keeps Denim firmly sewn to its own odd domain.
The musical span is likewise broader: Denim affects a jaunty Gilbert O'Sullivan bop in "Mrs Mills," goes all drippy for the maudlin "Synthesizers in the Rain" and apes Devo in "Shut Up Sidney," a comical spew against techno-pop and other chart abominations.

XTC Forum - THIS IS NICE.....
Anyhow, that Clive Dunn track was a goodie, my mates used to tease me (as a Manchester United fan) when I was about 12 or 13, with a line from his hit 'Grandad', they'd sing '...telephone and phonograph, Bobby charlton made us laugh...'
it's a great little song, that Clive Dunn one.
He made a full album, that Dunn bloke, in his Cpl Jones persona, called 'permission to sing, Sir' which was intermittently wonderful, in a bizarre-Shatneresque way.

 Origins: Sean South of Garryowen
Sean South was a friend of my grandfather also called Sean, though grandad was a lot older than South.
The song was written by Sean Costello of Limerick and first published in the "Irish Catholic" on 10 January 1957, just nine days after SS died.
Was Sean South gay (and I agree, this is fairly nonsense), and Glasgow Sixties gang-handed [or not].

 Progressive Ears Album Reviews
This album if it were to have relatives in the progressive world would probably call OSI and Threshold brothers, would call Arena and Porcupine Tree first cousins would call Yes and ELP grandad, Supertramp and Marillion uncle and Evergrey brother in law!
As soon as the first song you realise that where you should be hearing the bass, you're hearing orchestrated strings courtesy of the keyboard alongside the guitar.
Whatever type of prog you like there's something in this album for you, apart from obvious cheesy neo-prog and fusion.

Tower Records - The Inevitable - Squirrel Nut Zippers
Among the highlights on this entertaining album are "La Grippe," Maxwell's paean to influenza, and "Good Enough for Grandad," a touching Mathus song about the importance of family tradition that sounds like the Squirrel Nut Zippers' manifesto.
Whether listeners loved the Squirrel Nut Zippers' indescribable mix of '20s hot jazz, vaudeville novelties, calypsos, and New Orleans-style second-line music or considered them arch non-rock stylistic fetishists, it was impossible not to pay attention.
In a mid-'90s indie scene that seemed stuck in an increasingly by-the-numbers rut, the debut by this septet from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, led by guitarist/singer Jim Mathus (who had previously been in the considerably more indiepop-oriented Metal Flake Mother), was both a complete shock and a hot topic of debate.

The classic BBC comedy series set in Liverpool, England, from the legendary Carla Lane, OBE, who wrote 'The Liver Birds', 'Butterflies', 'Solo', 'The Mistress', 'The Last Song' and 'I Woke Up One Morning' among others.
It was an ensemble piece rather than a star vehicle, and Waller's Grandad was an essential element.
This was Bread, Carla Lane's sitcom about about the unemployed Boswell family on Merseyside, which at its peak in the late 1980s attracted an audience of 21 million.
