Situated adjacent to Little Ballinluig in Strathtay, the settlement of Grandtully (pronounced 'Grantly') developed in association with a former railway station that lay mid-way between Aberfeldy and Ballinluig at a crossing of the River Tay.
Grandtully Castle to the west, a former stronghold of the Stewarts, dates from the 15th century with later additions.
The lands of Grandtully were held in the 14th century by Sir John Stewart, Lord of Innermeath and Lorn, a descendant of Alexander, lord high steward of Scotland.

The SCA has a campsite at the old station yard at Grandtully near Aberfeldy.
The site is sheltered and secluded but is only a short walk from the slalom site at Grandtully rapids on the river Tay and there is easy access to the local hills and country paths.
The Riverside Inn is on the right in Grandtully and the campsite entrance is on the left just after the Inn.

As the Thames does not have the water conditions for a slalom course, it was held 500 miles away in Grandtully in Scotland.
With such strong bases in these three important canoeing disciplines already firmly established, new paddlers will have every chance to learn from and eventually succeed the existing paddlers, with the support of superb onsite facilities.

We have an instructor coming who will be responsible for the climbing and we hope to run some climbing sessions prior to camp to familiarise everyone with procedure and so save some time at camp.

I also was part of the Ladies GB Under 21 Canoe Polo Team 2003/04 and again for 2005 again the equipment recommended has helped me train in all weather conditions.
On a very cold day in November 2004 I competed in the Tyne Tour Race in Northumberland, a gruelling 13.5 mile sprint from Wark to Hexham on grade III/IV water and finished 1st female paddler and 2nd overall in the kayak class in a time of 2hrs 07mins 48secs.
I could not do all of this if I did not have the support from everyone at Wipeout and Green Star Canoe Club and especially from Esther Mathews who puts all her time into helping to get everyone up to the great standards that they are now and what they will be in the future.
