Grant Nicholas is the lead singer of the Indie band Feeder.
Feeder were originally formed in 1992 in Wales but the present line-up came together in London in 1995 when South Walians Grant Nicholas and Jon Lee decamped to London and found bassist Taka Hirose (from Tokyo) in the musicians ads Loot.
Grant was born in Newport, Wales, but grew up in Chepstow.

In school, Grant played the trumpet, and was in his first band, Sweet Leaf (named after a song by Black Sabbath, who were Grant's favourite band in his school years, and the first he saw play live).
The songs Grant had been writing and demoing up to that point were of a slower and more introspective style to much of their previous music, and the resulting album Comfort In Sound was taken as a tribute to Lee.
Grant continued this style of writing on the 2005 follow-up, Pushing the Senses, which reached #2 on the UK charts and produced 4 UK Top 30 singles, with the last one being "Tender" and being equally billed with "Shatter" on a AA sided single.

Professor Emeritus of Metallurgy Nicholas J. Grant ScD ’44 died on May 1, 2004 at the age of 88, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Grant “was an early researcher in the development of alloys,” including high temperature and metallic alloys, said Samuel M. Allen PhD ’75, professor of physical metallurgy and current department head.
Grant was accepted to Carnegie Mellon University on a football scholarship for his undergraduate education, and he later remained active enough to beat most of his students at football, even after he retired, Allen said.

Nicholas J. Grant, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor whose research helped in the development of the atomic bomb and who was one of the nation's leaders in the study of metals, died Saturday at the Guardian Center nursing home in Brockton.
Born Nicholas John Dwaresky, he was the son of Russian immigrants and grew up in South River, N.J. While growing up, he and his three older siblings, all brothers, decided to change their name, his son said, because they wanted a more American, easier to pronounce moniker.
Grant leaves another son, Peter of Maine; and two daughters, Anne Duffy of Kingston and Katherine Glennon of Scituate; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m.

I've always liked Hugh Grant (he reminds me a bit of my favorite Grant, Cary), although I must admit; I can't quite tell if his catty, cutting comments in some interviews denote a real mean streak, or if it's just a biting sense of humor.
When he's not running from the bullies at school, the geeky outcast is singing Carpenter's songs at the piano with Fiona, doing anything he can to keep her mood on an even keel.
Grant gives him that congeniality with a little help from excellent writing and decent character development.
