Granville John Eliot was born on September 22 1867 to Charles George Cornwallis Eliot (October 16 1839 - May 22 1901) and his wife Constance Rhiannon Guest (November 1844 - 1916).
Granville was educated at Castleden Hall School, Farnborough, Hampshire and became a Bank Clerk, living in the Malverns.
On March 21 1922, on the death of his first cousin John Granville Cornwallis Eliot, 6th Earl of St Germans, Granville became the 7th Earl of St Germans.

John Granville Cornwallis Eliot was born on June 11 1890 at 13 Grosvenor Gardens London to Henry Cornwallis Eliot, 5th Earl of St Germans (February 11 1835 - September 24 1911) and his wife Emily Harriett Labouchere (June 24 1844 - October 18 1933).
He was educated at a college in St Peter Intra, Broadstairs, Kent and at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst.
John died on March 22 1922 from the effects of an accident sustained previously at a Point-to-Point race at Wrangton nr Totnes, Devon.

"Sacred to the memory of John Crosby Vaughan, of Brynog and Greengrove in the county of Cardigan, Esquire Captain in Her Majesty's 38th Regiment who served from the commencement of the Crimean Campaign and died June 16th 1855 of a wound received in the advanced trench of the British left attack before Sebastopol.
He was engaged in the Battle of the Alma and fell mortally wounded by a musket ball, his body being pierced by bayonet wounds while gallantly fighting at the Battle of Inkerman on the 5th of November 1854 age 24.

Captain Hart, master of the brig "New Priscilla" of Salem, was in the early part of 1829 taken by pirates and he and the whole crew were murdered.
Hart was chosen to the common council in Boston the years 1879-81, to the board of alderman in 1882-86 and as mayor of Boston 1889-90 and 1900-01, receiving the largest vote accorded any Republican mayor up to that time.
