  Grappenhall a village in Cheshire
The new visitor to Grappenhall which is located in the North West of England (53 25N 2 38W), may be surprised to find a very attractive and picturesque village complete with cobblestones, village stocks, ancient Norman Church, Primary school and two pubs close to the busy town of Warrington.
The first known school in Grappenhall was built in 1712 on the north side of the church tower and was there for around 130 years until the present school was built further down the village, this was opened in 1846.
Grappenhall is situated midway between Manchester and Liverpool, the nearest large town is Warrington.

Grappenhall at that time was rapidly developing as a residential and dormitory area and the new Church prospered.

As a former Grappenhall resident I feel I must first point out that the Dog and Dart is most definitely NOT a "village pub".
That title is reserved for those which reside in the leafy, cobbled streets of the "village" whose photographs grace the glossy covers of Cheshire Life from time to time and where well-heeled regulars enjoy the ambiance as much as the alcohol.
Despite being a Grappenhall resident it was certainly never the hub of my community - it's value barely extending beyond it being a useful landmark to direct friends to my home.
