Gravastar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Instead of a star collapsing into a pinpoint of space with virtually infinite density, the gravastar theory proposes that as an object gravitationally collapses, space itself undergoes a phase transition preventing further collapse, being transformed into a spherical void surrounded by a form of super-dense matter.
The violent creation of a gravastar might be an alternate explanation for gamma ray bursts, adding yet one more speculative possibility to the dozens if not hundreds of ideas that have been proposed as the cause of GRBs.
Inside a gravastar, space-time would be "totally warped" by the extreme conditions there and the inner space would exert an outward force, like dark energy.

Mottola and Mazur have suggested that gravastars would be the solution for the fl hole information paradox and that the gravastar might be a source of gamma ray bursters, adding yet one more speculative possibility to the dozens if not hundreds of ideas that have been proposed as the cause of GRB's.

And the entropy of a gravastar would be much lower than that of any star that might collapse to form it, dodging the problem of excessive entropy that plagues fl holes.
Mottola says that if you scale the size of a gravastar up to around the size of the visible Universe, the pressure of the vacuum inside roughly matches the pressure that seems to be accelerating the expansion of the Universe.
The exact nature of the exotic stuff inside the gravastar shell is still open to debate, and they hope to find out whether gravastars can really form in the mayhem of a star's violent death-and whether gravastars could merge to form the heavyweight objects that sit at the centre of galaxies.

First up is Gravastar (The full version) it's almost 8 minutes of rolling sci-fi sounds and euphoric atmospheres, weaving solid house beat sounds and both uplifting and depressing melodies, Hybrid create a track equally dance floor oriented and just something you can sit and listen too.
Gravastar is a mellow bouncy blend that sounds like a typical hybrid tune, although good its maybe not up to some of the original hybrid tracks..
Had gravastar had the spark of celeb science this would recieve 5 stars without a doubt, both great tunes and its worth buying just for the second track if you ask me.

Unlike a fl hole, a gravastar would not collapse all the way into a singularity, instead stabilizing somewhere en route.
As Mazur and Mottola explain, a gravastar wouldn't be matter as we normally conceive of it.
A gravastar would be a star-size analogy to a "Bose-Einstein condensate," a subject of much scientific excitement in recent years.

The Gravastar explanation for fl holes helps provide answers to some of the daunting questions raised by traditional fl-hole descriptions.
The new form of gravitational energy in the interior is akin to a Bose-Einstien condensate, although it appears on the inside to be a bubble of vacuum, hence the term Gra (vitational) Va (cuum) Star, or Gravastar.
The interior of the Gravastar would be totally warped space-time (the traditional three dimensions plus time).

The hypotheses could address some perplexing anomalies in fl holes, while at the same time account for indirect observations that seem to support their existence, the astronomers say.
The shift to a new state would lead to the formation of an exotic new object, the gravastar, a condensed bubble enveloped by a thin spherical shell of gravitational energy.
In a paper submitted to Physical Review Letters, Mottola and Mazur argue that gravastars are consistent with classical laws of physics but do not have embarrassing inconsistencies as do fl holes.

Gravastars would be just as much fun for sci-fi buffs -- in fact, they'd be even more ruthless.
The exact nature of the exotic stuff inside the gravastar shell is still open to debate, and they hope to find out whether gravastars can really form in the mayhem of a star's violent death -- and whether gravastars could merge to form the heavyweight objects that sit at the center of galaxies.
What I do find interesting is that this gravastar model, like the fl hole model, implies that the universe and fl holes/gravastars are similar in nature: that they belong to the same class of objects.

object: the "gravastar," a kind of stellar-scale variation on quantum mechanical theory.
The difference is that a laboratory Bose- Einstein condensate forms from atoms, whereas Mazur and Mottola's star-size "condensate" would form from space-time -- the unified, four-dimensional fabric of space and time, as in Einstein's theories.
At Chen's invitation, Mottola recently lectured on gravastar theory at a seminar on the Palo Alto campus.

Gravastars could be strange bubbles of very dense matter: shells of cold, dense matter, filled with an exotic type of space.
The creation of gravastars might also be an explanation for the source of gamma ray bursters.
One difference between fl holes and gravastars would be gravastars would allow the escape of more energy than fl holes, as matter fell into them.

Using the published theory that the universe as we know may be inside a Gravastar lays the groundwork for my theory, “the universe is both expanding and contacting”.
As “our” Gravastar moves through space and encounters matter, which it draws into itself, the pressure in the Gravastar bubble increases like the air in a balloon when compressed.
Once the Gravastar entered an area of space where matter was in lesser amount the pressure on the bubble would decrease therefore causing the matter inside (our universe) to contract or at least slow the expansion.
