It follows that any educative activity, related to education for love and carried out by persons outside the family, must be subject to the parents' acceptance of it and must be seen not as a substitute but as a support for their work.
It is recommended that respect be given to the right of the child and the young person to be adequately informed by their own parents on moral and sexual questions in a way that complies with his or her desire to be chaste and to be formed in chastity.
This right is further qualified by a child's stage of development, his or her capacity to integrate moral truth with sexual information and by respect for his or her innocence and tranquility.

 Home Schooling in Canon Law
The idea that Catholic parents do not have the right to choose home schooling as a legitimate means for the Catholic education of their child seriously goes against the norms of Canons 793 §1 and 1136.
Catholic parents must examine carefully all the means of education available and make the appropriate choice for their children, keeping firmly in mind their duty to provide a Catholic education.
Furthermore, the view that Gravissimum Educationis absolutely requires parents to send their children to approved Catholic schools, regardless of the circumstances, overstates the case.

The many voices raised recently in opposition to chaplains in State schools is ample demonstration of the popularity of this mistaken understanding of the separation of Church and State.
Gravissimum Educationis points out that the educational development of the individual has three aspects: “physical, moral and intellectual,” each of which requires equal and integrated attention.
An educational system which focuses merely on the physical or intellectual development of the individual without bringing the moral dimension to bear in every case is therefore less than that education which the Church aims to provide.
