  What is Gravitomagnetism?
Gravitomagnetism, a theoretical idea around since 1918, is a predicted consequence of general relativity, from which it was derived.
But it is called gravitomagnetism because of the mathematical similarity between the equations that describe this effect and the creation of a magnetic field.
A difficulty in measuring gravitomagnetism is that the earth's equatorial bulge creates discrepancies in satellite/gyroscope behavior that must be correctly subtracted from other data in order to measure the magnitude of genuine frame-dragging.

 In Search of Gravitomagnetism
Gravitomagnetism is produced by stars and planets when they spin.
If Einstein's equations are correct and gravitomagnetism is real, the spinning gyroscopes should wobble as they orbit the earth.
But gravitomagnetism could be powerful in other parts of the Universe--for instance, "near a spinning fl hole or a neutron star," says Will.

Gravitomagnetism is a very well know and recognized analogy to describe the gravitational equivalent of a charge in motion, which has a magnetic moment.
It is the effect seen by an observer due to mass in relative motion (one type of gravitomagnetism is called frame dragging).
Gravitomagnetism has nothing to do with electromagnetism, or magnetism. It is the effect seen by an observer due to mass in relative motion (one type of gravitomagnetism is called frame dragging).

Gravitomagnetism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gravitomagnetism (sometimes Gravitoelectromagnetism, abbreviated GEM), refers to a set of formal analogies between Maxwell's field equations and an approximation to the Einstein field equations for general relativity, valid under certain conditions.
The factors 2 and 1/2 arise because the effective gravitomagnetic charge is twice the static gravitational (gravitoelectric) charge, a remnant of the spin-2 character of the gravitational field.
Gravitomagnetic arguments also predict that a flexible or fluid toroidal mass undergoing minor axis rotation ("smoke ring" rotation) will tend to pull matter preferentially in through one throat and expel it from the other (a case of rotational frame dragging, acting through the throat).

 Linking Gravitomagnetism to Infrasound
Gravitomagnetism would then be created from the Earth traveling through the gravitational pull of the Sun as well as gravitational affect from the other planets.
The explanation given is that the pounding on the iron aligned the magnetic moment of the atoms in the iron to the Earth's magnetic field and rapid cooling froze this pattern in the material.
That is, calculate the solar system's gravitomagnetic field, then calculate the gravitomagnetic acceleration on the probe, and show that is equal to the observed value.

Gravitomagnetism is the subject of a satelite experiment, Gravity B, which is scheduled to be reported in a few months.
Gravitomagnetism is a slightly misleading terminology because it is not magnetism like refrigerator magnets and such like.

 The Nature of Gravitomagnetism
So why is gravitomagnetism, and its after affect, frame dragging so important for theorist, for one in provides another test to check the validity of GR so that we may learn more about the nature of the universe around us.
Gravitomagnetism may also give clues as to various other possible behavior which matter and energy may take which are not known to present science.
It also may not be unreasonable to wage that gravitomagnetism may give some insight into the abundant nature of Dark Energy reported by cosmologist across the larger scale universe and why it appears to be practically non existent on Earth.

 The Search for Frame-Dragging
Gravitomagnetism has a history that is at least as long as that of general relativity itself.
Soon after the publication of general relativity (GR), Lense and Thirring calculated the advance of the pericenter and line of nodes of a particle orbiting a rotating mass.
The gravitomagnetic ``dragging of inertial frames'' by rotating matter has played a part in discussions about the meaning and usefulness of Mach's principle, in astrophysical models of jets near accreting, rotating fl holes, and in proposals for testing alternative theories of gravity.

3.7 Other tests of post-Newtonian gravity
According to GR, moving or rotating matter should produce a contribution to the gravitational field that is the analogue of the magnetic field of a moving charge or a magnetic dipole.
Although gravitomagnetism plays a role in a variety of measured relativistic effects, it has not been seen to date, isolated from other post-Newtonian effects (for a discussion of the evidence for gravitomagnetism in solar system measurements and the binary pulsar, see [100, 99]).
Another proposal to look for an effect of gravitomagnetism is to measure the relative precession of the line of nodes of a pair of laser-ranged geodynamics satellites (LAGEOS), ideally with supplementary inclination angles; the inclinations must be supplementary in order to cancel the dominant nodal precession caused by the Earth's Newtonian gravitational multipole moments.

For the special case of a homogeneous rotation of cosmological matter inside a given perturbation radius, the dragging of the axis of a gyroscope at the center approaches exact dragging exponentially fast as the perturbation radius increases beyond the Hubble-dot radius.
