Gray Morrow (March 7, 1934 - November 6, 2001) was an American illustrator of paperback books and comics.
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he is best known as art director of Spider-Man between 1967 and 1970 and as illustrator of the syndicated Tarzan, Buck Rogers, and Prince Valiant comic strips, among others.
Morrow was a feature cover and interior illustrator for many science fiction-genre magazines in the 1960s and 1970s.

Gray responded with none of that artwork, but sent me two lists of other pieces of his artwork which held less interest for me. We were unable to find anything to do a deal on.
Morrow said, "Oh yeah, I sent it out a while ago, I don't remember exactly when, but a week or two ago." I told him the problem with the strike, and that the artwork hadn't arrived.
I told Gray that I didn't hold him to blame, but the piece was gone, and we needed to come to some kind of accommodation.

Comic, science fiction and horror artist, Gray Morrow, passed away suddenly in his Pennsylvania home on November 6, reports comicon.com's Splash.
Morrow had an extensive career which included comic books, covers for both comics and science fiction magazines, comic strips (including the Tarzan, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon and others), TV layout art for shows like Spiderman, Rocket Robin, Wizards, and Fritz the Cat and the interior art for magazines such as Galaxy, Creepy, Eerie and If.
For the last 10 years, Morrow lived in rural Pennsylvania with his wife Pocho.

With tears and my eyes and hurt in my heart, I am sad to say that Gray Morrow has past away on the 6th day of November the year 2001.
Gray has done thousands of characters in his 40 year career as an Illustrator.
Gray did the illustrations for the Tarzan Sunday page for the United Features Syndicate for over 18 years.

One of the fantastic "realistic" science-fiction/horror artists, Gray Morrow did many stories (and covers) for Warren's 'Creepy' and 'Eerie' comics series.
He also drew for the Atlas line (1950s Marvel imprint) as well as Classics Illustrated, Marvel and DC, plus illustrations for Galaxy, IF, and other digests in the science-fiction genre.
Gray Morrow died 0n 6 November 2001, apparerntly from a gunshot wound.

According to a release by Mark Wheatley of Insight Studios Group, Morrow's last public appearance was just a few weeks ago at the Baltimore Comic-Con Sunday, October 28th, where he spent the day meeting fans, sketching and signing autographs.
"Gray was a both a participant in and a witness to comics history," said Wheatley in the release, who edited "Gray Morrow Visionary," a book published through ISG.
Morrow was the Sunday "Tarzan" comic strip artist for 18 years, from March 6th, 1983 up to its cancellation earlier this year on August 19th.

Morrow, Gray was an amazing comic artist, much in the vein of the classic comic strip artists of the Great Depression.
His figures were powerful and heavily grounded in reality, and his work ranged from Westerns for DC (El Diablo), to adult comics to, most importantly, the Tarzan Sunday strip, which he drew for eighteen years.
Gray’s wife, Pocho, is a very dear friend of mine (she would be family if not for the genetic discrepancy of not being related), and my thoughts are with her today.

I only became aware of Dolores Gray a few years ago when a good friend and loyal diva fan treated me to some vintage TV appearances of the singer-actress whose greatest achievements were on the London stage in productions of Annie Get Your Gun, Gypsy and Follies.
Gray took part in the show's delightful opening number (featuring Griffin and all four ladies belting "Everything's Coming Up Roses") and also offered a solo on "Here's That Rainy Day," a song she debuted in the short lived musical Carnival in Flanders.
Gray had a dark, rich voice that she poured out with remarkable control, one of those distinct sounds that was simply a joy to hear.

This is an excellent book covering his whole career - my main regret is that it spends so much time on the things I don't care about and misses so much of his SF art.

Brianna's crossing the line for a cause she believed in and the consequences thereof and the crossing the line of Oliver in the future offers an intriguing parallel between this story line and those in the regular series.

The price had jumped to 90 cents and the publication year was 1972, although I couldn't find that date in the second edition.
The saddest part is that the glorious old Gray Morrow cover is gone: all those looney characters in the original are nowhere to be seen.
I'm not really a fan of westerns, so it is hard for me to make any informed criticism, but it strikes me as a pretty funny book.
