 Seminar
As background for his study, Ryan illuminates the tensions between the largely conservative Styrian population and government and the avant-garde, oppositional artists who emerged in the post war period and through the sixties and seventies.
A central contribution of Ryan’s book is his argument for a “Grazer literature” that is distinct from the larger Austrian (Viennese) and German contexts.
The distinctions between the Forum Stadtpark, the Grazer Gruppe, and the Grazer Autorenversammlung have long been unclear.
