In the middle of the T-birds' performance of "Greased Lightning", we're switched from Kenickie's garage, where the T-birds are trying to fix up his dilapidated white car, to a highly idealized repair shop with a beautiful red sports car, which they proceed to work on through the remainder of the song.

1978 Grease - Movie reviews, trailers, clips and stills
Grease is not just a nostalgic look at a simpler decade--it's an energetic and exciting musical homage to the age of rock 'n' roll!
Yet in a strange sense of duality, Grease also indirectly comments on its own cinematic development: Back in 1978 it played in theaters as a cleaner version of the raunchier stage show, yet after so many repeats of the edited-for-TV version, Grease feels dirtier and less innocent than we've been accustomed to seeing.
When Kleiser is really cooking, Grease often aspires to the heady vulgarity of director George Sidney's brassy rock musicals Bye, Bye, Birdie and Viva Las Vegas, which only proves how much viewers have missed seeing on the TV screen--and why a letterboxed video release is essential.

I know this because I've just beared witness to "Grease 2," which earns my vote for one of the worst sequels- and films in general- ever to be born out of the mind of a filmmaker.
The journey down the path of the conception of "Grease 2" isn't that uncommon from sequels that we see today: the original film made a pretty sizeable theatrical run in the summer, which wasn't surprising when you consider its roots as a stage musical.
Generally speaking, "Grease 2" is to "Grease" what "Staying Alive" was to "Saturday Night Fever." Few films can truly be this terrible, this abundantly boring, this enormously, outlandishly, obtrusively bad, and yet, here we have a sequel that manages to be horrible enough for ten separate movies, and then some.
