		The name "Main Line" is the title given to the well-established western suburban communities formerly known as "Penn's Greene Countrie".
		The communities and neighborhoods grew along the main line of the Pennsylvania Railroad, which was originally built by wealthy industrialists to ease their commute to their country homes, gentlemen farms and summer residences.
		The Main Line towns in the townships of Lower Merion, Radnor, Haverford, and Tredyffrin offer both quality and quantity in what you are looking for in a community and a life style.

	Railways On Line - Great Northern Railway
		The plan proposed a main line from London via Hitchin, Peterborough and Grantham, a loop line from Peterborough to Bawtry south of Doncaster via Boston and Lincoln, and branch lines to Sheffield and Wakefield.
		By 1852 the main line from London-Doncaster was open, as was the new London terminus of Kings Cross.
		The main revenue of the GNR was derived from freight, mainly coal, for which major marshalling yards were built at Doncaster, Colwick (Nottingham), New England (Peterborough) and Ferme Park (London).

		However, problems were encountered at towns such as Gloucester where the Great Western provided its broad gauge track from the south of the town met the Gloucester and Birmingham standard gauge track from the north.

	Great Chesterford signal box
		Great Chesterford station is to be found on the Great Eastern's main line to Cambridge, and the signal box once to be found there dated from 1881.
		It is built to the Great Eastern's first standard design, introduced around 1877 to supersede the types illustrated at Histon and Fulbourne.
		Great Chesterford box is now no more, having been abolished when the Cambridge area resignalling took place in 1983.
