Great Falls ranked second (to Anaconda) among the cities of the state in the value of the factory product of 1905, which was $13,291,979, showing an increase of 42.4% since 1900.
Great Falls was settled in 1884, and was chartered as a city in 1888.

The great quantity of coarse freights, that could only be profitably carried long distances by water, has revolutionized the type of vessel used for its transportation, making large steamers imperative, consolidating interests and cheapening methods.
There is geological evidence to show that the whole basin of the lakes has in recent geological times gradually changed in level, rising to the north and subsiding southwards; and it is claimed that the movement is still in gradual progress, the rate assigned being ~42 ft. per 100 m.
The maintenance of the level of the Great Lakes is a matter of great importance to the large freight boats, which always load to the limit of depth at critical points in the dredged channels or in the harbours.

Great Harwood is an urban district in the Hyndburn parliamentary division of Lancashire, England, 4 1/2 miles north east of Blackburn.
The memorial hall and town clock pay tribute to John Mercer (b.1791), the 'father' of Great Harwood, who revolutionised the cotton dyeing process.
The town once lay on the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway, the last train serviced the town in November 1957.

The church of St Bartholomew at Great Harwood is first heard of in a document of 1335.
This describes it as "the Chapel of Harwode", and the building was probably a chapel of ease of a nearby church, or possibly of Whalley Abbey.
