Chance-Vought SB2U Vindicator, by Jack McKillop The Great Lakes Aircraft Corporation proposed a two seat biplane based on their BG-1 dive-bomber; the new aircraft was basically a BG-1 with retractable landing gear. The squadron began the transition from the Great Lakes BG-1 to the Vindicator in May 1941 and was redesignated VMSB-131 on 1 July 1941.
