The Overland is a passenger rail service running between Melbourne and Adelaide, Australia.
It was started in 1887 as the "Adelaide Express" and given its current name in 1926.
Now operated by private company Great Southern Railway, the train completes four return trips a week, travelling to Melbourne during the day, and back to Adelaide overnight.

Though this appeared to be a great coup for the GWR, the coal traffic declined significantly as the use of coal as a naval fuel declined, and within a decade the GWR was itself the largest single user of Welsh coal.
