It's certainly the strongest of the various Moonstone offerings we've seen, and given that the Vertigo style is quite compatible with the World of Darkness, he seems to have been a great choice for the book.
They were probably the ideal publisher for this type of material, since their projects are original graphic novels, which allow the creators room to develop the stories and work with the complexity of the licensed worlds of White Wolf.

I also have to say that while it's a little moment, the scene where Snow actively breaks down after killing Shere Khan is a great character moment, as it shows a very human side that the character rarely displays.

The push of economics that drives the men of the Ahab’s ship (the Pequod) to hunt and kill whales for their oil to go into lamps to enlighten the mainland, is honed by Melville with a unique artistic blackness (every great writer is unique).
Secondly there are the narrative sections that follow Captain Ahab, the monomaniac owing much to Shakespeare’s Iago and to a lesser extent King Lear, who is pathologically driven to seeking revenge on Moby Dick, the whale that has bitten off his leg and left Ahab with a makeshift whalebone prosthetic.

 NEWS from me
BILJO WHITE, who passed away last week, was one of the pioneers of comic book fandom both in terms of history — in 1964, he first published Batmania — and the creation of amateur comics.
Sadly, in the mid-fifties when he journeyed to New York and sought employment at DC Comics, the experience was discouraging enough to un-inspire him — at least on comics as a profession.
IF ANY opinion in the comic strip world approaches unanimity, it's that Walt Kelly was a great cartoonist and that Pogo was a great comic strip.

 Brainiac - Supermanica
Brainiac is an evil space mastermind and fearsome super-foe with an arsenal of awesome nightmarish scientific weapons at his command, and is perhaps the most terrible evil-doer in all the universe, a creature of superhuman intelligence, great scientific ability, and utter ruthlessness who is said to know the universe as no mere man knows it.
Brainiac is sometimes accompanied on his marauding journeys through space by his alien pet, Koko, a white extraterrestrial creature which closely resembles a small monkey except for the twin antennae protruding from its forehead.

ICON: A HERO'S WELCOME reprints the award-winning first eight issues of ICON by Dwayne McDuffie and M. Bright, with a new cover by M. Bright and an introduction by Reginald Hudlin, director of "House Party," Boomerang" and "The Great White Hype." Full color on Mando paper.
Some of you might sneer at attaching such importance to creating comic books (it shows a certain success for Milestone that you are reading this introduction, anyway), but for people who have suffered with "a dream deferred" for too long, having our collective fantasies delineated and distributed across the country is empowerment indeed.
If you've never read a comic, ICON is still a compelling story.

Baltimore City Paper: ARTS AXIS Celebrates the Greatest Love of All
Because Violet's trip occurs during the height of the civil-rights movement in the South, it's symbolically appropriate that she befriends two soldiers who are traveling together on the same bus: Monty (Sean D. Rivers), a white guy who becomes her boyfriend, and Flick (Leanto E. Jones), an African-American to whom she also is attracted.
They get good if not great performances from most cast members, although Rivers' singing voice goes flat so often that Monty's delivery seems like a more disturbing problem than Violet's facial scar.
Violet fleshes out the title figure with biographical details that make her seem a more complete character than one generally finds in a musical.
