It's not as busy as Halifax International overall, but there is a great deal of cargo passing through the airport annually as many couriers have sorting stations in Moncton, serving the maritimes.
The airport is also a popular spot for VFR and IFR training due to it's normal traffic level being generally unrestrictive compared to busier centers while at the same time giving pilots the ATC services of a terminal operation.
The airspace around the airport consists of a Class D control zone (7NM radius, capped at 3,500 ASL), and outside of that is Class E, Mode C transponder airspace.
