The frequent soliciting of playful contact by subordinates towards dominants, and their juvenile-like response towards those dominants, suggests that the play fighting is used as a means of maintaining `friendly' relations with the dominant (Pellis et al.
However, not all subordinates are equally obsequious.\ The greater the dominance asymmetry between pairmates, the more juvenile-like are the playful responses by the subordinate (Pellis and Pellis 1992).
Whereas both the slow loris (Erhlich and Musicant 1975) and the greater galago (Erhlich 1977) use play fighting within their colonies for social affiliation, only the galago uses play fighting in encounters with unfamiliar animals in a neutral arena (Newell 1971).

The plaintive cries and "cute" appearance may account for the name "bush baby." It and its larger cousin, the greater galago (Galago crassicaudatus), are both arboreal and nocturnal in their habits.
Both bush babies and galagos often share habitats with monkeys, but as bush babies are nocturnal they do not compete ecologically with monkeys.

These are termed Milankovitch cycles, based on the fact that every 95,800 years the earth's orbit changes from being roughly circular to elliptical.
With increased elliptical orbits, the Northern Hemisphere develops greater seasonality and growth of the ice sheets, while the Southern Hemisphere experiences less seasonality. There are also 41,000 year cycles and 21,000 year cycles that cause short-term fluctuations within the major climatic cycles.
The 41,000 year cycle is related to the cyclic change in the earth's axis tilt or inclination between 21.39 and 24.36 degrees (Mithen, 2003).
