		In fact, the music of Journey is somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me. Having gotten their start as more of a hard rock band earlier in the 1970s, they softened their sound with the addition of frontman and vocalist Steve Perry.
		Journey’s Greatest Hits is a stereo SACD without a hybrid layer, so it will only play on a dedicated SACD player.
		As a Greatest Hits collection, this recording is a good one to put on your early list of SACDs to add to your collection if you are any kind of Journey fan.

		i saw journey with steve augeri this past summer with def leppard, and steve augeri is really good, he fills the spot well and sounds a bit like steve perry.

		Journey continues its reign at the top of a short list of second generation San Francisco rock bands whose music has truly stood the test of time.
		It was in 1996, when the classic Journey lineup of guitarist Neal Schon, singer Steve Perry, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, bassist Ross Valory, and drummer Steve Smith reconvened for the first time in ten years to record "Trial By Fire." Their 10th studio album was also the long-awaited follow-up to 1986’s Raised On Radio.
		This was followed in 2003 by Journey Greatest Hits DVD (1978-1997,) 18 tracks that spanned from 1978’s “Wheel In the Sky” to 1997’s “When You Love a Woman” (from "Trial By Fire.") In 2005, "Live In Houston 1981: The Escape Tour" arrived on DVD.

		Greatest Hits shows that Journey knew how to craft a pop song with memorable tunes like "Anyway You Want It" and "Don't Stop Believin'." "Wheel in the Sky" was one of the band's more arty singles, while "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" relied on a straight four-bar blues pattern, with Perry's vocals at their best.
		Their hits collection makes it hard to buy any individual cd, but after you have their hits, I think most fans would agree that Escape and Frontiers would be the next to buy.

		Journey, like many bands of any genre, didn't have the same band members throughout their strong years.
		Journey was the best of the 80s arena rock bands, and their sound, in my opinion, will never sound dated.

		Formed by Aynsley Dunbar, Gregg Rolie, Neil Schon, George Tickner and Ross Valory in 1975, Journey was one of the new breed of bands that were influenced by the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Frank Zappa and Carlos Santana.
