Greed is listed as one of the Christian seven deadly sins, usually by the synonym of avarice.
However, greed has become more acceptable (and the word less frequent) in Western culture, where the desire to acquire wealth is an important part of capitalism.
When greed is applied to the subject of the excessive consumption of food or drink the term gluttony is often used, another of the Catholic seven deadly sins.

Anger, pride, humility, desire, and greed can be interpreted either way depending on the circumstances; observers probably would consider most of them as negative, although the experiencer of these emotions usually feels them as positive or energizing.

The positive emotions develop in like fashion from excitement, to delight, to elation, and to affection by a little over a year of age.
It would seem on the basis of this evidence that their is some agreement among psychologists, that there are a limited number of trans-cultural primary emotions, that they are adaptive, having survival value, and that they develop very early in life in the absence of specific training.
I will assume that we receive our emotions as gifts from God, and that each of them has been given to us for our well being.* For example, the presence of the emotion of fear is necessary or we would be falling off of bridges, petting wild animals, and walking into trucks.

If we fancy some strong emotion, and then try to abstract from our consciousness of it all the feelings of its characteristic bodily symptoms, we find we have nothing left behind, no "mind-stuff" out of which the emotion can be constituted, and that a cold and neutral state of intellectual perception is all that remains.
