Traveling in Taiwan soon leaves the visitor astounded with the amount of cultural -and natural diversity packed into such a limited geographical space.
It's territory is a strip of land and ocean which lies mainly on the east side of the coastal range of Taiwan from the Hualien River mouth in the north to Siaoyeliou near Taitung in the south, and also include the Siouguluan river white water rafting segment, located below Rueisuei as well as Green Island.
Chen at the hotel on Green Island took good care of us and was especially good with the kids (making them food and tea late at night, for example, and giving them little toys and candy).

Taiwan is undergoing a de-Chaing-ification at the moment, the govt is spending millions on rebranding the Republic of China to become simply Taiwan.

Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian renewed his call for a new constitution on Tuesday, pledging to enshrine human rights in the document, a move likely to anger China that considers the island as part of its territory.
Chen was speaking at a commemoration of the 54th anniversary of the first political prisoners to arrive at Taiwan's Green Island during the island's martial law era.
