Green syndicalism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Green syndicalism is the philosophy of the green guild or sustainable trades movement.
Its methods are a fusion of the trade union, more robust methods from formal syndicalism, and the direct action and workplace democracy movements (the most prominent proponent of green syndicalism is the legendary IWW).
It may work closely with green movement and fair trade groups.

Organise: Article / Making Anarchist Revolution Possible   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
Syndicalism is the organization of syndicates (unions) of direct self-interest of those directly affected or having direct common concerns.
Industrial Syndicalism is base upon the idea that working people must organize their economic power in order to fight the day-to-day struggles against their bosses, while at the same time building their collective power in order to do away with the capitalist system.
Social syndicalism advocates that social groups of people become empowered by organizing together in their own self-interest and use their organizations to interact with the other syndicates in order that their needs and concerns are addressed directly.

This approach has led to the development of syndicalist practice informed by radical ecology a "green syndicalism." Green syndicalists have understood that labor struggles and ecological struggles are not separate (See Bari, 2001; Purchase, 1994; 1997a; 1997b).
These green syndicalist perspectives are important in reminding (or informing) ecology activists and workers alike that there are radical working class histories in addition to the histories of compromise which so preoccupy Bookchin's thinking.
Green syndicalists insist that overcoming ecological devastation depends on shared responsibilities towards developing convivial ways of living in which relations of affinity, both within our own species and with other species, are nurtured (See Bari, 2001).

What differentiates the eco-anarchist from the primitivist is this focus on the village and its social capital, as opposed to technology and its acceptance or rejection.
What differentiates the eco-anarchist from the big-G "Green" or small-g "green" anarchist is that the focus is strictly on ecological integrity and decentralization, with no import of rules from larger bodies into the ecoregion, or into the eco-village itself.

Infoshop.org - An Anarchist FAQ - E.7 Can green consumerism stop the ecological crisis?
Green consumerism is the only thing the establishment has to offer in the face of mounting ecological destruction.
Neither does green consumerism question why it should be the ruling elites within capitalism that decide what to produce and how to produce it.
Such solutions are doomed to failure because they promote individual responses to social problems, problems that by their very nature require collective action, and deal only with the symptoms, rather than focusing on the cause of the problem in the first place.

Syndicalism that was more marxist in orientation, tended to adopt the view that the proletariat alone was the agent.

 Infoshop.org - An Anarchist FAQ - Section E - Introduction
Murray Bookchin in particular has placed anarchist ideas at the centre of green debate, emphasising the social nature of the ecological problems we face and arguing that humanity's domination of nature is the result of domination within humanity itself.
This section of the FAQ expands upon section D.4 ("What is the relationship between capitalism and the ecological crisis?") in which we indicated that since capitalism is based upon the principle of "growth or death," a "green" capitalism is impossible.
Since feminism, ecology, and peace are key issues of the Green movement, anarchists believe that Greens are implicitly committed to anarchism, whether they realise it or not, and hence that they should adopt anarchist principles of direct political action rather than getting bogged down in trying to elect people to state offices.

Occupying the seat of power at the national and, increasingly, the supranational level, such bodies can incorporate the environmental values espoused by individual citizens into enforceable public policies that are capable of regulating international trade and thus protecting the global commons.

The outcome was inevitable: that the "Green 2000" motion, to put the party under the direction of an executive committee, and to entrust its public persona in two speakers, would be passed; only the shape of the battle was left undetermined.
The degree of opposition to Green 2000 on the conference floor surprised both the backers and the opponents of Green 2000.
Green 2000 themselves seemed taken aback both by the scale and--as importantly--by the arguments of the opposition, and their reliance on proxy votes left them open to accusations of corrupt and undemocratic tactics.

 syndicalism
Political movement in 19th-century Europe that rejected parliamentary activity in favour of direct action, culminating in a revolutionary general strike to secure worker ownership and control of industry.
After 1918 syndicalism was absorbed in communism, although it continued to have an independent existence in Spain until the late 1930s.
The idea originated under Robert Owen's influence in the 1830s, acquired its name and its more violent aspects in France from the philosopher Georges Sorel, and also reached the USA.

But i do not see how can syndicalism (especially coupled with platformism) which does not allow for the diversity attain any form of liberation for a sentient being.
syndicalism on the other hand is often misunderstood by purist individualists as having nothing to say to society beyond the factory gates, which is untrue when you look at the ways in which communities were organised by syndicalist militants in mexico, ukraine, spain, manchuria, fukien, cuba etc...
syndicalism has never been a purist, workerist method of organising, but rather a pluralist, communitarian method.
