  Greene County, Ohio History
Ross Township embraced at one time a considerable portion of the land in the northeastern part of Greene County, but subsequently a large portion of it was taken in the formation of Cedarville Township, which was made from these northern townships, and organized in 1850.
It is bounded on the north by Madison Township, the southeastern township of Clarke County; on the east by Stores Township in Madison County, and Jefferson Township in Fayette County; Silver Creek Township, of Greene County, bounds it on the south, while New Jasper and Cedarville Townships bound it on the west.
In 1870, the population of the township was 1,076.

Eliza J. Bryant, matron of Greene County Infirmary, Xenia, was born in Bath County, Kentucky, December 25, 1822, and is the daughter of Augusta and Sarah Shoat.
Drake was born in Franklin County, in 1847.
William M. North, farmer, Xenia, was born in Oldtown, Greene County, in 1831, and is the son of Orin and Martha North, natives of Connecticut and Kentucky.

 Description of the Geology of Pike County Pennsylvania
The whole county except this narrow belt, has a rolling hill surface of Catskill red and gray sandstone and slate, covered with a sheet of Glacial Drift, in the billowy surface of which lie innumerable little lakes and ponds in process of being turned into swamps in due course of time.
But in the south-west corner of Palmyra and south-west half of Greene townships the land rises 1950` A.T., the eastern edge of the great Pocono plateau, down through which the head branches of the Wallenpaupack cut wild gorges, the walls of which are 300` or 400` high.
North and South knobs in Blooming Grove township are solitary sentinels of the plateau left standing 3 miles in front of its eastern edge, their tops of Cherry ridge conglomerate (with cliffs of 60` to 75`) rising to 2010` A.T. and commanding magnificent view.

The County of Pike was separated from Wayne County on March 26, 1814.
By the Act of April 1, 1836, a portion of Pike County was cut off to form part of Monroe County; otherwise, it's boundaries remain as they were established by the Act of 1814.
It was one of the original townships of Wayne County in 1798.

Beavercreek Township is the cradle of Greene County, for it was the little log cabin built by Benjamin Whiteman, occupied by Peter Borders, a short distance south of the log mill of Owen Davis erected in 1798 on Beavercreek that the first meeting of the associate judges of Greene County met May 10, 1803.
New Germany in the northwest corner of the township was a settlement of farmers of German extraction.

Anyway the name Pike County was of interest to me. My Dennis ancestors are resting at the Pike Cemetery off Harmony Road in Middletown, NJ (was the George Pike Farm) across the street from the Colonial Dennis and Bennett Farm.
I recently found Zebulon Pike from NJ settled in Pike County, Georgia USA for which the county was named.
