 History of Greenwich, NJ
Greenwich is one of the oldest townships of the county, and at its earliest and greatest extent included all of the western and central part of the county from the Kittatinny Mountains to the Musconetcong.
The fattest person ever known was born in Greenwich Township, in 1816, the daughter of Anthony and Catherine Learch.
He was a member of the committee of safety and of the New Jersey Assembly, and was father of Colonel William McCullough, of Asbury and Washington.

Located in the heart of the fl community of Springtown in Greenwich Township, the church and its congregation offered lodging to fugitive slaves travelling north after leaving Maryland's Eastern Shore and Delaware.
The new building was located next door to the home of Algy Stanford, a church member and Underground Railroad operator.
Greenwich was originally settled by Quakers in 1685.

 Gibbstown Fire Company, Greenwich Township , NJ
Greenwich Township, from which Gibbstown developed, had the largest population of the six townships in Gloucester County in 1695.
The townships were formed using rivers and creeks as dividing lines and the inhabitants of the area between the Barclay River and Great Mantoes Creek requested that the land be divided and formed into the Township of Greenwich.
Attendance grew as the town enlarged, and a new church was built on Memorial Avenue in 1972.
