Greg Sheridan - SourceWatch   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-03)
Greg Sheridan is the Foreign Editor for The Australian newspaper, which is published by News Limited (a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation).
On 22 September 2005, Sheridan, a champion of the Australian Government's so called "anti-terror laws", co-authored an article with John Kerin, claiming that deported US peace activist Scott Parkin planned to "instruct demonstrators in tactics including disabling police horses and springing arrested protestors from custody".

Sheridan quotes the managing director of SBS as saying that the campaign against the provision of the Vietnamese TV program by some Vietnamese migrants to Australia is "deeply troubling" and is an "organised campaign against freedom of speech and freedom of expression".
Sheridan trots out the usual anti-communist hysteria, even claiming that Ho Chi Minh was responsible for the deaths of millions although he does not attempt to put a figure on these millions.
Sheridan claims that SBS is staffed by "cultural left types" which will come as a surprise to many viewers, but as already remarked the neo-fascists regard everyone to the left of their own extreme right-wing position as some sort of crypto-communist.

Greg, how come no-one seems to worry about the fact that the New Zealand Prime Minister and the Canadian Prime Minister also were frivolous enough to go to this function, remembering that 66 per cent of Australians have a British heritage.

Printer version - Greg Sheridan's lame defence   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-03)
Even worse for a journalist, Sheridan went on to break an "off the record" agreement he had with McCutcheon's producer (it was all off the record Greg) and then seriously misrepresented that exchange - at no time was any concesssion made that McCutchon had erred as Sheridan reports in his column this morning.
Sheridan brought this all on his own head, and by his stubborn refusal to apologise for what might have been dismissed as nothing more than a regrettable error, is fast shredding whatever credibility he has outside the loyal circle of neo-con true believers who read his column.
Greg Sheridan's inaccurate verballing of anyone who disagrees with his views is typical of The Australian's foreign affairs reporting today.

The synthesis that Sheridan wants to see would combine the economic rigour of the market liberals, with religious and spiritual inspiration, both tempered by the prudence of the conservative.
In Sheridan's opinion, the economic rationality of the market liberals is too narrow in its focus and it lacks moral, cultural and spiritual depth, a view which is often expressed in the comment that economists know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Presumably the use of 'extreme' means that Greg wants to retain the deep divide between humans and animals and his is deeply opposed to extending moral consideration across the divide to non-human nature.
