The daughter of an English dancer and an Italian painter, GretaScacchi was born in Milan, Italy, though she was primarily raised in London.
Around the age of 15, Scacchi moved with her family to Australia, where she held a series of odd jobs; among the most unique were cowgirl and Italian interpreter.
Her film roles were generally met with praise; in Emma (1996), Scacchi was held in very high esteem by both critics and co-star Gwyneth Paltrow, though her most significant role came in the film The Red Violin (1998).
GretaScacchi's mother was an Italian dancer and her father was an Italian painter.
GretaScacchi became an internationally renowned film, theatre and television actress.
Greta's television credits include Michael Bogdanov's Macbeth, The Odyssey, Rasputin with Ian McKellen and Alan Rickman (and for which she won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress), Waterfront, Dr Fischer Of Geneva with Alan Bates and James Mason, and The Ebony Tower with Laurence Oliver.
One of Greta's first film roles was in a short comedy film written by Richard Curtis (Four Weddings & a Funeral) which also starred Leslie Ash (Merseybeat), Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) and Jim Broadbent (Iris).
Greta starred with Harrison Ford in crime thriller Presumed Innocent and with Tim Robbins in Hollywood satire The Player as a character called June Gudmundsdottir.
Camille is a typical 80s period piece for television - lavish period costumes, sudsy script, somewhat cheesy music and perfunctory direction - but the real fascination here is in seeing the very young Colin Firth and GretaScacchi, each in one of their first film roles.
Firth is young and skinny and perfect as the serious puppy dog lover obsessed with Marguerite, the beautiful courtesan played by Scacchi.
She is quite good in her role - her combination of drop-dead beauty and calculating mind make her a fine choice.
