Certain elements of Greyhawk's geography are fantastic in nature, such as the Sea of Dust and the Land of Black Ice.
In 1980 the Greyhawk campaign setting was first publicly detailed in The World of Greyhawk folio, which was superseded by the World of Greyhawk boxed set in 1983.
The Living Greyhawk campaign is far more popular than the current Mark of Heroes campaign set in the world of Eberron, the Legacy of the Green Regent campaign set in the Forgotten Realms or the Living Force campaign run with d20-edition Star Wars rules and characters.

Greyhawk obviously has none, or he wouldn't allow federally funded research to mushroom into an uppity, grossly inefficient system, hampered by ophidian power brokers and what I call sadistic, dishonest sad sacks.
Greyhawk has been known to say that an open party with unlimited access to alcohol can't possibly outgrow the host's ability to manage the crowd.
In fact, that's exactly what Greyhawk does as part of his quest to fight with spiritual weapons that are as grotty as they are piteous.

Greyhawk, it's what I grew up adventuring in, and is the best.
we knew it was the beginning of the end for greyhawk when they posted entries and stats for god in the old dragon magazines some 20+ years ago… has just taken a little longer than the fr slide into the garbage heap.
As far as that poll goes....frankly, the difference between FR and Greyhawk settings seems purely cosmetic to me (unlike a setting like Planescape which is truly different IMHO) but, then again, Im not a DnD super expert.

The thing that makes Living Greyhawk different from most tabletop roleplaying games is that it's officially sponsored by Wizards of the Coast (the company who publish the Dungeons &; Dragons books) and the RPGA (Role Playing Gamers Association) as an international network of linked games.

 RPGHost Community Forums - what annoys you about greyhawk?
Greyhawk's greatest strength is the fact that it is so customizeable but that is probably its greatest weakness also (some people prefer that work to be done for them).
Blackmoor in Greyhawk is in the frigid north (north of the Cold Marshes and south of the Land of Black Ice).
One can make the argument that Greyhawk's customizability is better suited to include more monsters since a lot of the finer detail is up to the individual GM anyways (The GM doesn't need to worry about 'retconning' if it isn't there in the first place).

Greyhawk has persisted as my favorite fantasy rpg setting since that day; outlasting childhood, adolescence, girlfriends, 5 years in the USMC, 6 years of marriage, several jobs, dozens of friends and acquaintences, more gaming groups than I can count on two hands, and relocations around the US and jaunts overseas.
Indeed it does happen to be refreshing that Greyhawk has remained true to its principles, even to the point of having minimal room for such classes as ninjas.
The writing duo of Mona and Holian is simply brilliant; they approach the matter of Greyhawk with the utmost care, detailing every aspect of change over the last twenty years and proving what a deeply engrossing world Greyhawk truly is. You'll spend many hours enjoying this book.
