 Ch. 16 Frederick Griffith
One of the first experiments that began unraveling the cellular and biochemical mechanism behind Mendelian inheritance, was Frederick Griffith's experiment with the bacteria that causes pneumonia in mice, Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Following Griffith's experiment, a scientists named Oswald Avery purified various chemicals from the heat-killed S cells, fed them to live R cells and then injected the R cells into mice.
The last phase of his four step experiment is shown below.

Griffith's experiment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Griffith's experiment was conducted in 1928 by Frederick Griffith which was one of the first experiments suggesting that bacteria are capable of transferring genetic information, otherwise known as the “transforming principle”, which was later discovered to be DNA.
In his experiment, bacteria from the S strain were killed by heat, and their remains were added to R strain bacteria.
Both IIS and IIS strains pneumococcus were isolated from the mice’s blood, suggesting that they could not have resulted from the mutation of IIIR strain pneumococcus.

Acting on Melanie's burgeoning interest in acting, Tippi helped her land her first feature role in The Harrad Experiment, a project in which Tippi had already won a part.
Melanie's marriage to Antonio Banderas, initially received with scorn on the part of the press, has proved enduring thus far, and the couple is frequently involved in charitable causes, publicly aligning themselves with organizations such as her mother's Shambala Preserve.

In 1928 British microbiologist Frederick Griffith ran a series of experiments on two strains of bacteria, one that kills mice and another that is harmless to them.
The experiments of Hershey and Chase convinced most scientists that DNA was the molecule of heredity, but many questions about the structure and mechanisms of DNA remained.
Their experiments demonstrated the mechanisms of replication by tracking DNA containing a heavy nitrogen isotope through a series of replications.
