Grim Reaper is a British heavy metal band from the NWOBHM style and era.
The band was formed in 1979 in Droitwich, England, by Nick Bowcott.

 Grim Reaper biography @ Tartareandesire.com
Grim Reaper debuted in the summer of 1984 with the roaring "See You In Hell" (RCA 8038), which was recorded in just four days.
It introduced the creepy Grim Reaper character featured on their album covers, a half-man, half-wolf whose motto was "Fear The Reaper: No one escapes his evil power." "Fear No Evil" may have been an over-the-top video, but its powerful imagery and the strong performance of the group made it a popular entry on MTV.
The little cartoon twerps made fun of the dated sound and imagery of the group but when they were at their peak, Grim Reaper was a powerful band that could more than hold their own with any other metallic rockers.

The fact that Grim Reaper was capable of combining the above attributes so competently, yet truly excelled at none of them resulted in an exceedingly swift "rags to glory and back to rags" story, which somehow was as surprising as it was strangely fitting.
Add to this a far from attractive visual aesthetic (i.e., they were four crusty English dudes with handlebar moustaches, bad hair, and even worse teeth) and it was clear Grim Reaper was doomed to enjoy a limited afterlife in the newly established MTV regime.
Originally issued in November 1983, Grim Reaper's debut, See You in Hell, was far more polished than the band's first single and initially seemed fated for historical oblivion, since European fans steeped in heavy metal history found little merit in the band's energetic but rather ordinary metal style.

 Grim Reaper - Interviews
Talking to Reaper after the last gig of their tour was like interviewing a kid after Christmas morning: They were incredibly excited and happy but a little disappointed that it was all about to end.
Reaper played to crowds of about 1,000 during the tour and they insist the fans were behind them "150 percent." Truckers who saw them at all-night diners asked them for autographs and their video scored medium rotation on MTV.
Grim Reaper have never had a fair crack of the whip in their nativeland, although the land of the free was all eager to embrace their distinctive British metal bounties.

Grim Reaper, based in Droitwich, first came to the public's attention via 1981's Heavy Metal Heroes sampler of Heavy Metal Records where they appeared with the song The Reaper.
Still the formula grew thin and the band was history by the time Grimmett made the mistake of accepting Onslaught's offer to fill the vacant vocal position in that thrash outfit.

The band, a cult classic before anyone even knew who they were in the first place have been both dismissed as a laughable joke band and a serious slash to the throat of the burgeoning dark side of Heavy Metal that prevailed so greatly upon the 1980's.
Interestingly, the band probably influenced more than their fair share of the bands that would follow though you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who even sounds like them or remotely resembles their awkwardly aggressive style built on gloom, gore and guts.
Grim Reaper, talented enigma though they may have been, really busted loose during the formation of the NWOBHM movement that swept through the early '80s-yes, they were a part of it but not until later and never received the accolades they should've been due.

Reaper considered it to be sonically sub-par, and RCA (the US label that had been licensing Reaper’s albums from Ebony) rejected it.
The result was Grim Reaper’s greatest achievement, a solid slab of well-produced energetic metal, with neck-snapping drums beats, the soaring vocals of Steve Grimmett, amazing riffs and leads, as well as infectious verses and choruses that you just had to sing along with.
The cleaner and brighter production took Grim Reaper from a rough n’ raw feel to a professional sound, without sacrificing their heaviness.

Grim Reaper : Rock You to Hell - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Although Grim Reaper was never in a class with Judas Priest or Iron Maiden, the band was definitely underrated -- its three albums were solid examples of British fantasy metal.
This 1987 album came at a time when MTV was in love with pop-metal hair bands, like Bon Jovi and Poison, and thrash was the rage in the metal underground -- Grim Reaper was neither pop-metal nor thrash, and the British wisely stuck with the type of fantasy metal they were known for.
Some of the tunes underscore Grim Reaper's interest in the occult and horror movies -- like "Night of the Vampire" -- but the lyrics come across as comic rather than disturbing.

Without the internet, it was hard to keep track of these guys, but Grimmett has stuck to his roots with the powerful Lionsheart, who are now on their fourth studio album, officially one more album than the band Grim Reaper had done in the 80's.

Grim Reaper was one of literally hundreds of bands to emerge from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal in the eighties.
Grim Reaper never really had any hits, so this is obviously a "best of", not a "greatest hits." The closest thing the band had to a hit was See You In Hell, the title track from their debut album (and that's only because it appeared on Beavis And Butt-Head), and you'll find it here.
It includes liner notes with the track lengths, original release dates for each album, a listing of which tracks are on which albums, a five page history of the band (well-written, although bogged down by a redundant use of certain words), and two photos of the band.
