		Groombridge Village Hall was completely refurbished and extended in 2000; it has high quality halls and rooms suitable for functions and activities from wedding receptions for 200 to intimate meetings of half a dozen.
		The connection with Groombridge may seem tenuous but it has proved to be a popular destination for quite a few Groombridge families over the years.

		Unusually faint for its spectral type, Groombridge 1830 is a yellow-orange halo subdwarf star of spectral and luminosity type sdG8p /VI.
		The distance from either Groombridge 1830 where an Earth-type planet would be comfortable with liquid water is only about 0.44 AU (around the orbit of Mercury), but at that distance, such a planet would be very difficult to detect using present methods.

		After 26 years of service, Judy Groombridge retired last month as a specialist in the Hutch's electron microscopy shared resource.
		Groombridge was hired in 1975 by Liz Caldwell, who manages the facility, shortly after Caldwell was called upon by Center founder Dr. Bill Hutchinson to establish a microscopy service.
		Groombridge plans to spend much of her time building an addition on her home, tending to her dogs, playing golf and visiting family in Montana.
