		Grootfontein ist eine in der namibianischen Region Otjozondjupa gelegene Stadt.
		Nachdem sich der Bergbau in dieser Region etabliert hatte und sich auch die Landwirtschaft aufgrund des Klimas rechnete, übernahmen die Deutschen die Kontrolle über Grootfontein.
		Der Name Grootfontein ist afrikaans und bedeutet "Große Quelle".
