 Geology - The Richmond Group
This higher group has been almost completely stripped by erosion from the vicinity of Cincinnati, but outcrops in a broad band thirty to fifty miles from that center where the uplift was less.
The group as a whole is fairly well represented in the northwest corner near Oxford where it caps the higher uplands.
The name of the group is taken from Richmond, Ind., where it is well exposed, and has been thoroughly studied.

The primary aim of the Medical Geology Working Group was to increase the awareness of this issue among geoscientists, medical specialists, and the general public.
One of the first activities of the IUGS Medical Geology Working Group was to establish and maintain communications with an audience dispersed throughout the world, many in developing countries with limited communication capabilities.
The working group has also provided financial support for dozens of students and professionals from developing countries to participate in these and other events.In addition, Working Group members have been invited to talk about medical geology at numerous universities, colleges, research hospitals, science clubs, etc., in more than 30 countries.

Staff geologists from the Bedrock Geology Mapping Group and the Environmental and Surficial Geology Mapping Group completed a seven-year program to remap the bedrock geology and the bedrock topography of each of the 788 7.5-minute quadrangles in the state.
The staff of the Bedrock Geology and Environmental and Surficial Geology Groups gained valuable field experience and first-hand familiarity with the state's geology during the county mapping effort and were able to rapidly move into the quadrangle mapping focus of the reconnaissance-mapping initiative.
Much of the remapping of the bedrock geology of Ohio was accomplished using existing data in the Survey files; however, the effort required extensive field checking of outcrops in many areas.

 Slovak-Hungarian Working Group of Geology established
On motion of the February 2002 session of the Joint Committee, a joint Working Group of Geology was established this year, serving the continuation of the successful co-operation of the Slovak and Hungarian geologists/geophysicists.
Jozef Franzen, CSc, Director General of the Geology and Natural Resources Division, Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, and Dr. István Farkas, Director General of the Hungarian Geological Survey to fulfil the duty of the co-chairmanship of the Working Group.
The aim of the activity inside the Working Group of Geology is to unify and integrate the geoscience knowledge on the national territories as well as to promote the joint projects of the Slovak and Hungarian scientists.

The work of the Sheffield group has however shown that the footprints are more common and more varied in type than has been generally supposed.
The studies of the dinosaur footprints are giving an insight into the character and behaviour of the dinosaur communities of the Yorkshire and of how they changed with time and with changes in the local palaeoenvironment.
In addition the two groups are collaborating on the common problem of the conservation and protection of dinosaur sites.
