Growth rate (group theory) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In group theory, the growth rate of a group with respect to a symmetric generating set describes the size of balls in the group.
According to Gromov's theorem, a group of polynomial growth is almost nilpotent, i.e.

NationMaster - Encyclopedia: Population growth rate
Population growth rate is a term used in demographics and ecology which refers to the rate at which the number of individuals in a population increases.
Birth rates have declined because parents are more confident that their children will live to adulthood; more people have access to family planning; and more girls are receiving basic educations, and are choosing to start their families later in life and to have fewer, healthier children.
Although the average annual population growth rate decreased from 1980 to 1998, the annual population increase was greater in 1998.

Growth theory: A Glossary of Political Economy Terms - Dr. Paul M. Johnson
Economic growth is usually measured as the annual percentage rate of growth in one or another of the country's major national income accounting aggregates, such as Gross National Product or Gross Domestic Product (almost always with appropriate statistical adjustments to discount the potentially misleading effects of price inflation).
There is broad support in virtually all empirical studies for a strong positive impact on economic growth by the investment rate (especially the rate of investment in plant and equipment) and by various measures of human capital (such as the literacy rate, school enrollment ratios, and average life expectancy).
Countries that allow extremely rapid expansion of their money stocks and thus bring on high rates of inflation (about 20% per year seems to be a critical threshold) have tended to experience sharply lower economic growth rates than countries with low or moderate rates of inflation.

Groups as abstract structures were first recognized by mathematicians in the nineteenth century.
Groups are, of course, sets given with appropriate "multiplications," and they are often given together with actions on interesting geometric objects.
More precisely, a finitely-generated group can be seen as a metric space, the distance between two points being defined "up to quasi-isometry" by some "word length," and this gives rise to a very fruitful approach to group theory.

With one of the fastest growing economies in the world, clocked at an average growth rate of 7% between 2000-2003, India is fast on way to become a large and globally important consumer economy.
However there is no indication how the growth rate will narrow the gap between one of world's richest men, Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, and the poor woman working so hard in the photo.

Endogenous growth theory   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
Endogenous growth theory was developed in the 1980s as a response to criticism of the neo-classical growth model.
That is, the source of growth is external to the model (as compared to endogenous growth which originates with a variable within the model).
Subsidies on research and development or education are generally thought to increase the growth rate - a result that is very much in line with university professors' personal preferences.

Yalom presents the new therapist with the many considerations that need to be looked at when forming a group and actually leading a group and he assists the therapists who have been in the field for some time with ways in which to sharpen or improve their skills.
Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy by Dr. Yalom is an excellent book from which to gain knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of group process and also and essential piece of literature to keep at hand as a valuable reference book.
His whole approach to the process of group therapy is existential emphasizing on the "Here and now" and focusing on what is going on in the immediate present of the group.

Group size is the most important factor to consider when deciding whether to require plurality of leadership.
Medium sized groups, like home churches, are large enough to have an identity as a group or a community, and may develop loyalty to their own home church, more than to the larger church.
If the group relieves pressure on itself by going to a larger venue, they may lose their incentive to raise up leaders as well as their ability to go back into homes.

Their likely effect on the level and growth rate on output is close to zero while they lead to significantly larger budget deficits.

The authors report a study of ultrahigh compression and temperatures in bubbles nucleated by means of fast neutrons, whereby bubble nucleation centers with an initial radius of 10 to 100 nanometers are created, and the bubbles grow in an acoustic field to a maximum radius of approximately 1 millimeter before an implosive collapse.
This report builds on observations that increasing the maximum radius modestly (e.g., by 50 percent), or increasing the rate of collapse, can result in very large increases in peak gas temperatures and produce light emission during implosions.
In contrast to single-bubble experiments, in which the initial bubble radius typically increases to the maximum bubble radius by a factor of only approximately 10 (e.g., from 10 microns to 100 microns), the neutron-induced nucleation technique used by the authors results in bubble-radius increases of approximately 10^(5).
