	F9F Panther
		The Grumman F9F Panther was the manufacturer's first jet fighter and the US Navy's second.
		Panthers were withdrawn from front-line service in 1956, but remained in training roles and with the reserves until 1958.
		A swept-wing derivative of the Panther was later built, after concerns about the Panther's inferiority to its MiG opponents in Korea; this plane was the Grumman F9F Cougar.

		Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio and served in the Korean War.
		In 1950, he was sent to Korea where he flew 78 combat missions from USS Essex in a Grumman F9F-2 Panther.
		He received the Air Medal and two Gold Stars.

		Additionally, I happened to stumble across the airfoil used on the Grumman F9F Panther in a NACA report and the wing airfoil used on the Gee Bee Acender canard aircraft.
		Lastly, access to the original Grumman F8F drawings has shown that the root airfoil on this aircraft was a NACA 23018, not a NACA 23015, so this has been fixed.
		Through another source came information in regard to the Douglas A-3 and Grumman Gulfstream II and lastly, a visitor to the page has provided me with information on all of the Monocoupe aircraft.
