  The Il'Khan Nation: History
Gruumsh decided that he no longer desired the brute strength the orcs had to offer, but he desired a being which had both strength and some intellect.
Gruumsh took several humans and forced them to breed with the orcs that remained, until he possessed enough of these half-orcs that he would have them breed amongst themselves.Delighted with his new creation, Gruumsh decided he would test them in battle.
Gruumsh was outraged, and in his last ditch effort to form a perfect race, he bestowed upon the half-orcs the ability to breed much faster than elves, dwarves, or humans, so that they never be outnumbered again.

Since Gruumsh was first described in the Deities and Demi-Gods, there have been two major changes in the original fiction regarding Gruumsh's one eye and his battles with the greater, elven god, Corellon Larethian.
Gruumsh ambushes Corellon in hopes of slaying him and drinking his blood, so as to inherit his special powers; Gruumsh fails, of course, through his own short-sightedness, and Corellon shoots an arrow at Gruumsh's eye.
Fifty percent of all of Gruumsh's priests are Shamans or Witchdoctors.

The coming of strife to the world is almost always held to have begun with the violence of Gruumsh, the orcish god, and with fell creatures which emerged from the darkness of the Underdark and the lands below the surface.

Whether this alliance will last or falter is unknown, but it brings to mind the phrase "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Enslaved elven worshippers of Corellon Larethian in the Crimson Spire often worship the Chaotic aspect, as they seek freedom from the bondages of slavery.
