 Fulcrum
On July 23 1988 the new MIG-29K, piloted by Takhtar Aubakirov, made its maiden flight and a little over a year later on November 1 1989 both the SU-27K and the MIG-29K made the first landings on the "Kuznetsov".
The airframe was also refined on several areas: the tailfin root-extensions had been removed, two additional underwing hardpoints were added(total of 9 hardpoints - 8 underwing and 1 between engines) - raising the maximum disposable payload to 4500 kg.
For cable arrested landings an arrestor hook was added and folding outer wing panels were fitted to reduce the space required for below-deck storage.
