Guangdong last year reported 54 cases of infection with HIV, the virus that causes Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, up by a quarter compared with the year before, the official agency said on Friday.
More than 85,300 cases of venereal disease were reported in Guangdong last year, including 29,770 cases of gonorrhoea and 4,190 cases of syphilis, an overall rate that was 3.4 times as high as in 1995, the agency said but gave no details.
