Guelph jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Drew Doughty and Luke Pither.
In the second period, the two teams continued to battle with neither team managing to score until James Neal on a tremendous individual effort slipped past the Storm defence and fired a shot past Thomas McCollum to cut the lead in half.
After the Storm failed to clear the puck along the side boards, the Whalers quickly converted with Chris Terry finding Neal at the side of the Guelph goal and the 19 year old winger cashing in high glove on McCollum.

The Guelph Storm, defending Ontario Hockey League champions, recently named right wing Ryan Callahan captain of the 2004-05 club, Guelph General Manager and Head Coach Dave Barr announced earlier this week at the team's First Annual Season Ticket Holders 'Captain's' Barbeque.'
The 5-10, 180-pounder was selected by the Rangers in the fourth round, 127th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Callahan is coming off a strong second season with Guelph in which he averaged a point per game (36 goals and 32 assists in 68 games) and 86 penalty minutes during the regular season.

Sunday afternoon in Windsor, Storm rookie goaltender Thomas McCollum (pictured - 1st career shutout) earned his first OHL shutout in his first ever start to help Guelph to a convincing 5-0 win over the Windsor Spitfires.
Guelph picked up a pair of third period powerplay goals to build a 5-0 lead.
The Storm's next game will be next Friday night, September 29th when the Plymouth Whalers enter the "Eye of the Storm" for a 7:30 pm start.
