Guernica (painting) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Guernica is one of the most famous paintings by Pablo Picasso in which the painter condemned the Nazi German aerial bombing that destroyed Guernica, Spain on April 26, 1937 and killed an estimated 1600 people.
Guernica was initially exhibited in July 1937 at the Spanish Pavilion at the Paris International Exposition.
The display of Guernica was accompanied by a poem by Paul Eluard, and the pavilion displayed works by Joan Miro and Alexander Calder, both, of whom, were sympathic to the Republican cause.

Detailed Reviews [Index - 2002 - "Liber Secundus"] - ProgressoR
However, I read a few reviews on the band's self-titled debut album that was released in 2000, and all of which were positive.
All four of the remaining tracks on the album (yes, including even Guernica ein Nova York), are on the whole real masterpieces of Classic Symphonic Art-Rock genre (or, jokingly speaking, the legitimate children of mistress Rock Symphony - in a general sense).
The musicianship of all of the band members (including a drummer, of course) and their joint performance as well, are on the whole excellent throughout the album.

 Guernica CD Review
Guernica is clawing their way through with blood-stained claws.
Chanting wildly about revenge with metaphorical phrases and violent threats, the band seems to mimic several bands in an archetype fashion.
Besides these slight drawbacks, the band still possesses the element of determination to break away from the restraints of the current hardcore sound.

The mistake bands make is in structure meaning choruses, verses, breakdowns, etc. are always in the same areas of songs.

By the time we hit the stage we realised that no foldbacks existed, not usually a problem, apart from the fact that it was extremely dark with 'romantic' instead of practical lighting, making it extremely hard to communicate with each other.

On April 26, 1937, fighters from Germany's Condor Legion--sent to Spain by Adolf Hitler to help fascist General Francisco Franco overthrow the communist Popular Front regime--destroyed the undefended Basque town of Guernica, killing 1,600 and injuring 900.
Although the alleged target was a bridge of military significance some distance from the town, dazed survivors described a merciless four-hour bombing and strafing attack by German pilots directed toward the village and its inhabitants.
The Guernica atrocity became synonymous with the horror of modern warfare and inspired one of the 20th century's greatest works of art, Guernica, by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.
