 Bailiwick of Guernsey
The Lieutenant-Governor's flag is as Jersey's except that Guernsey's arms are distinguished from those of Jersey (and England) by the addition of a golden sprig of leaves issuing from the top of the shield.
The arms were submitted to the King for his approval and the Lt-Governor of Guernsey was then told that, "the King had been pleased to approve his proposals." The Governor interpreted this as meaning that the flag had also been authorised.
The lion is presumably from the Guernsey (and English) CoA, with the leaf on the top which distinguishes the Guernsey CoA from the otherwise identical ones of Jersey and England.

Genetically, the Guernsey of today is much different than that of 960 A.D. Due to the advent and commercialization of artificial insemination, a process by which a cow is inseminated without ever seeing a bull, a particular bull can sire thousands of offspring.
The Guernsey cow is known for producing high-butterfat, high-protein milk with a high concentration of betacarotene.
Data from herds enrolled in the American Guernsey Association's Dairy Herd Improvement Register program during 1992 shows the breed average to be 14,667 pounds of milk, 659 pounds of butterfat and 510 pounds of protein on a mature-equivalent basis.
