Guernsey County is a county located in the state of Ohio.
In the county the population is spread out with 26.20% under the age of 18, 7.90% from 18 to 24, 27.50% from 25 to 44, 24.00% from 45 to 64, and 14.50% who are 65 years of age or older.
Elections are administered in each county by a four-member board of elections which consists of two Republicans and two Democrats appointed by the Ohio Secretary of State at the recommendation of each county party.

Guernsey County District Board of Health and United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) records indicate that the landfill accepted about four drums per week of spent lacquer and thinner.
As early as 1968, the Ohio Department of Health indicated that the site may be unsuitable for a landfill because of the closeness to the deep mine aquifer which is used by the City of Byesville.
The Guernsey County Health Commissioner attended the meeting and indicated that there is a lack of community concern.

The earliest known inhabitants of Guernsey County were some Delaware Indians, 20 warriors and about 30 women and children, living in a dozen houses on the south side of Will's Creek in the vicinity of the viaduct in Cambridge.
With so many Guernseyites in the area, when the county was formed in 1810, it was decided to give it the name of their island home and we became Guernsey County.
This happened just as coal was being successfully mined in the southern part of the county, and mining soon became our principle industry (outside of farming, of course).
