The package from the city of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County is more than double the $12.4 million from Greensboro and neighboring Guilford County, the chief competitor for the Dell project.
Guilford County's Board of Commissioners plan a public hearing Thursday to consider up to $7.1 million in incentives that includes $5.6 million in county funds and $1.5 million for water and sewer improvements.
Davidson County commissioners are planning a Dec. 14 public hearing to discuss incentives, but have declined to identify the company.

The Battle of Alamance occurred in what was then Orange County, and a number of former Orange residents, in an area which became part of Guilford County that year, participated in the battle and the events surrounding it.
Surry bordered Guilford's northwest area, and, while the creation of Rockingham County out of Guilford's northern third reduced the border with Surry, they were still neighbors until Stokes County was created out of Surry's eastern half in 1789.
VIRGINIA: Also, don't forget that Old Guilford County, the northern third of which became Rockingham County in 1785, was bordered on the north by the Virginia state line and Pittsylvania County, VA, on the northeast side, and Henry County, VA, on the northwest side.

 About Guilford Technical Community College
It opened in 1958 with 50 students and two classes as the Guilford Industrial Education Center on the site of the Guilford County Tuberculosis Sanatorium, which had operated from 1924 to 1955.
Guilford Industrial Education Center's board of trustees was established on Sept. 3, 1963.
Its purpose has remained basically unchanged: to give the people of Guilford County the training and education they need to compete in the job market.

Remember that Guilford County was formed from Rowan County in 1770 so any dates previous to that time are actually in Rowan County land records if you are trying to locate an original record.
This list was made before Rowan Co, NC was divided into other counties and is the oldest tax list ever found in Rowan (to my knowledge).
