I think that Del Toro is definitely a big enough name in the sense that the ears of geeks everywhere will perk up when they hear Guillermo Del Toro is directing Halo.

I've mentioned several time in the Blade: Trinity thread how awesome Del Toro's Blade 2 commentary is. You really get a sense of why Trinity sucked as much as it did, as Guillermo talks about what he fought with Goyer (who wrote 1 and 2, and wrote and directed Trinity) over including and changing.
I met Del toro at Wizard World TX in 2003 he was pretty cool.
Seriously though if you take out the bad cg fighting which Del Toro explains why is bad in the commentary then its not that bad.
