Guitar solo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There are, for example, well-known cases of extended guitar solos at the end of songs, such as Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird".
Some famous solos that are based on the minor pentatonic scale are "Comfortably Numb" by David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd), "Stairway to Heaven" by Jimmy Page (of Led Zeppelin), "Eruption" by Eddie Van Halen of Van Halen, and "Crazy Train" by Randy Rhoads (with Ozzy Osbourne).
Bass solos are structured and performed similar to a guitar solo, but the deep sound and tendency to keep the bass as a rhythm instrument limit the number of bass solos performed, often meaning they only appear when a band is playing live and not on studio albums.

Guide to the Perfect Guitar Solo
Unfortunately, guitar soloing in rock today has gotten so bad that you had to sit there thinking about the answer to that question for hours on end, playing and replaying that recording of me making beeps and farts alongside every album in your miserable collection of mopey English-major indie rock.
The “Highway Star” solo is balls-out awesome to the max, and I present it to you here as it was meant to be heard—in its entirety (it was actually meant to be heard played on the guitar, but due to clearance issues I had to sing it).

Solo (music) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In some context these are interchangeable, but 'soli' tends to be restricted to classical music, and tends to refer to either the solo performers or the solo passages in a single piece: it would not often be used to refer to several pieces that happen to be for single performers.
A piece written for a single performer is referred to as a solo, often qualified by instrument, as piano solo or flute solo.
There are pieces for solo singers, possibly accompanied; there are pieces for soloist and chorus (like concertos, but that word is not usually used); and there are solo passages in choral works.
