Mike's feel for moving, sort of storytelling melodies (note the dreamlike intro) is omnipresent on the whole work, and the guitar is the most natural way for him to realize his ideas.
I love this album, it's full of such highs and lows...just like real life is. Mike Oldfield's music has gotten me through some of the worst moments in my life, I just hope that he lives a long and productive life so that we can all keep on hearing beautiful music.
Mike has said before that his preffered instrument is the guitar so I really think that a lot of thought and feeling went into this album.

Given the it's unhurried pace, emphasis on creamy guitar lines and shimmering atmospherics together with--thematically speaking--some contented personal reflections on the joys of a non-materalistic lifestyle, it couldn't be any more "chilled out" if it came with an advisory sticker cautioning against listening to it whilst operating machinery.

 Mike Oldfield biography - 8notes.com
Oldfield's most famous work is Tubular Bells, an instrumental composition recorded in 1972 and launched on May 25, 1973 as the inaugural album of Richard Branson's Virgin Records label.
Oldfield later turned to film and video, writing the score for Roland Joffé's acclaimed film The Killing Fields and producing substantial video footage for his album Islands.
Oldfield's rebellious response was Amarok, an hour-long work featuring rapidly changing themes (supposedly devised to make cutting a single from the album impossible), unpredictable bursts of noise, and a very cleverly-hidden Morse code insult directed at Richard Branson.
